G-7 hits greenback, CAD, ahead of NK talks, Fed, ECB

The USD was lower in early Monday trade after the week’s G-7 talks saw further disagreement with the US and Canada continuing to argue about trade.

Markets are also on edge ahead of a major week in global markets, with the US-North Korea talks, Federal Reserve meeting and European Central Bank decision.

USD eases

The US dollar was weaker this morning with the USDSGD drifting from Friday’s one-week highs.

The Canadian dollar also fell.

The Japanese yen was stronger as markets looked to “safe haven” markets.

Pound in focus

The UK remains in focus tonight with manufacturing production and GDP estimates due.

The GBPSGD has recently climbed from nine-month lows.

Later this week, the US Fed and ECB can drive big moves in the USD and EUR markets.
