President Payments
Andrew Summerill
Andrew Summerill is the President for Payments at Western Union and a member of the company’s Leadership Team. In this role, he is responsible for the business customer segment (Western Union Business Solutions) its international payments needs, as well as ensuring the company remains a market leader in the cross-border payment sector.
Andrew joined Western Union in the 2011 acquisition of Travelex. He has spent his career at the intersection of payments and internet technology in Finance, Business Development and General Management roles where he has gained invaluable insights into the changing technological, regulatory and customer environment.
Andrew lives in London and holds a degree in Business from Staffordshire University and is also a Chartered Accountant.
Regional VP, Europe
Frederic Simon
Frederic Simon has been with Western Union Business Solutions since 2014 in various leadership roles and is now the Regional Vice President for Europe, providing payment solutions and foreign exchange services to small / medium enterprises and large corporations. Simon has been expanding Western Union Business Solutions’ products and services throughout the region.
Simon has over 20 years of senior experience in business development, sales, and marketing in technology and financial services at companies such as FIME, Ingenico, and La Cie Canada. His strong business acumen and large international exposure with more than eight years living abroad (Spain, Russia, Singapore, Canada and the USA) give him a unique perspective and capabilities.
Simon has a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD.
Vice President, Head of Operations
Michel Foricher
As Vice President Operations at Global Payments, Michel Foricher is responsible for ensuring that business transactions are sent and received well and in time by our customers.
Customer satisfaction and service quality are two critical areas under his responsibility in addition to rolling out of systems enhancements for clients. Michel has a team of 700 people located all over the world including mid and back office functions, global operations and accreditation teams.
Michel Foricher joined Western Union in 2000 as Operations Manager for West Africa. He has held a variety of progressively responsible positions with the company, including Operations Director for Africa from 2001 to 2004, Business development Director for Southern and Eastern Africa from 2004 to 2006, Network Director at SFDP (“Société financière de Paiements”) in France from 2006 to 2009. From 2009 to 2013, Michel Foricher worked in the medical industry managing clinics in Vietnam as General Manager for International SOS. Michel came back to Western Union in 2013 in Dubai as Vice President Service delivery for Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, Russia & CIS. He took over Operations at Payments in September 2017.
Michel started his career in 1995 within the consulting industry in France where he gained extensive experience in network management, productivity, service delivery and operations. He is also Six Sigma and ISO certified and brings to his role a lot of project management experience.
Michel Foricher, a French national, has a bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from Lille University and a master’s in Project Management and Economy from Paris VI University.
Vice President, Head of Product
Scott Johnson
Scott Johnson has worked for various Western Union business units for nearly 20 years, including Paymap, Speedpay, Custom House, and Western Union Business Solutions.
Scott started working as a call center representative for Paymap in late 2000. Over the ensuing decade, he assumed a number of roles within Western Union’s bill payments, ultimately leading Operations functions for several domestic US bill payment products.
Scott was part of the integration team for WU’s acquisition of Custom House, which was eventually renamed Western Union Business Solutions. He has served in several strategic Operations and Product roles since that time, and he’s currently the Head of Product for the business unit.
Scott has helped launch multiple products during his tenure at Western Union Business Solutions, including WU EDGE, the Mass Pay API suite, NGO GlobalPay, and GlobalPay for Financial Institutions.
Scott is based in Denver, where he lives with his wife and two daughters.
Head of Sales Operations and Analytics
Richard Kang
Richard joined Western Union Business Solutions in 2011 as part of Western Union’s acquisition of Travelex Global Business Payments. He has held various roles in the organization including Sales, Pricing, Finance, and Sales Operations in Sydney, Australia and London, United Kingdom.
As the Head of Sales Operations and Analytics, he is responsible for the CRM technology and data strategy across the business covering planning, reporting and analytics. Richard works closely with sales and marketing leadership to maximize insight, process, and performance.
Richard has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Brunel University, and currently lives in London with his wife and daughter.
Head of Commercial Development
David Swann
David Swann leads the Western Union Business Solutions Commercial Development function, driving a wide-ranging remit focused on adding incremental global commercial value.
With a 20-year background in global Foreign Exchange, Payments and Financial Services, Swann has spent his career occupying a variety of commercially orientated roles.
Prior to his current role Swann was the Director for Business Analysis & Pricing for Western Union Business Solutions, having joined the WU group in 2017 from Travelex.
In his time at Travelex, Swann led the global Retail pricing strategy for the digital and offline business, was the Head of Product for Prepaid cards partnering with Mastercard, had a long secondment in Czech Republic to run the Retail sales team and was their global PR spokesman with insight articles published in the Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times as well as driving thought leadership content via BBC appearances and visibility in several national newspapers.
He started his career with Santander Bank, gaining significant business banking experience in a number of Commercial and Finance roles.
Swann is based on Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, just outside London. He studied at Southampton University in United Kingdom and holds a degree in Accounting & Management Science.
Global head of Compliance | Vice Chair | Non Executive Board Member
Tristan van der Vijver
Tristan Van der Vijver is a highly accomplished international compliance and risk management executive, with a strong track record of leading and building out compliance and financial crime risk functions and teams in major global and international financial institutions. Tristan’s current role is Global Head of Compliance in Banking and Payments at Western Union based in London. Prior international experience includes assignments as Regional Compliance Head for Commerzbank Asia, located in Singapore, and Regional Compliance Head for Commerzbank Americas, located in New York.
Tristan has a special affinity for proactively advising the Board and senior business management on the development and implementation of group compliance risk strategies, control, and reporting frameworks across all business lines. Critical skills include Non-Executive Board member, Board/Executive Committee, Compliance risk advisory on significant business developments, strategies and transactions, compliance culture, conduct risk and policy development, management of complex, International change processes including the integration of business acquisitions and FinTech, and management of regulatory relationships.
Tristan is currently appointed to various group Boards and Governance committees. He is FCA approved and assessed as fit and proper by the Austrian FMA and ECB as the vice-chair of the supervisory board of the Western Union European Bank. He has been appointed as an Independent non-executive Board Member of CIFF (Children Investment Found Foundation). He is also an industry thought leader and a regular speaker at UK and international Compliance, Banking, and FinTech events.
