Olympic Gold: Dollar Hits 27-Year High Against Pound

News.com.au: The Australian dollar rose to its highest value against the British pound since 1985 on Wednesday, giving the many Australians who plan to travel to London for the upcoming Summer Olympics hopes of a little extra spending money if the Aussie's strength continues. David Greene, Senior Currency Dealer with Western Union Business Solutions in Sydney, thinks it just might.

A trip to the Olympics is getting cheaper by the day for Australians as the dollar hits a 27-year high against the British pound.

The dollar rose to almost 68 pence overnight - the highest since 1985.

The strong dollar will give a lot more spending money for the record number of Australians who plan to travel to London for the Olympic games in July.
